Stress Management & Relaxation Training
Relaxation Training is often an important component of Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Individuals are taught to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, alleviate physical pain, and eliminate anxiety and worry through methods like progressive muscle relaxation, body scanning, and self-hypnosis. Clients are taught these methods and given an audiotape so they can practice the skills at home. Biofeedback is often used to facilitate the relaxation response and teach clients to effectively self-regulate physiological functioning.
